REPLACE – Making heating and cooling for European consumers efficient, economically resilient, clean and climate-friendly

Dear Sir or Madam,
Dear interested parties,

REPLACE is driving efficient heating and cooling in Europe: with its new Calculator, end users and professionals can calculate sustainable heating projects. A matrix shows which renewable heating systems fit which building types. And two dedicated manuals help end users and professionals to switch towards sustainable heating technologies. All tools are adapted to the ten project regions from Western over Central to South-Eastern Europe.

Topics in the newsletter are:

  • REPLACE tools – ready for action!
  • REPLACE campaigns in the target regions
  • REPLACE Energy Summits
  • Condensed knowledge – new REPLACE reports

We would be happy to support you in your replacement projects – whether by offerings of our boiler or oven replacement campaigns or with our online tools and materials. Up-to-date information on our offers and services can be found on our website www.replace-project.eu and in the social media. And if you have any comments or suggestions, we look forward to hearing from you.

Yours

Team REPLACE

Which heating system fits which building type best? The REPLACE heating matrix provides a first overview, adapted to each project region.

REPLACE tools – ready for action!

The REPLACE your Heating System Calculator is online. It helps end consumers, intermediaries and investors to find the best future-proof, resilient and climate-friendly alternative to an old heating system in just three steps. Almost like an energy consultation. The calculator is tailored to the situation in 10 European target regions and works in 8 languages (BiH, DE, BG, ES, HR, MK, RS, SL).

The REPLACE Heating Matrices are now available. In a tabular overview, a scale from green over yellow to red indicates which heating system fits best to a certain building type. Systems marked in green are characterized by high overall efficiency, low CO2 emissions, reasonable investment costs and high heating comfort.

Replacement handbook for end consumersWhy should I replace my heating system? What climate-friendly options are there, how does heating system replacement work in practice and what steps can be taken? The handbook provides compact answers to all these frequently asked questions.

Replacement handbook for intermediaries and investorsThe handbook delivers in-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art renewable heating and cooling systems, gives professional planning and implementation guidance, informs about economic issues, best practices and innovative business models, up to model contracts.

Best practice examples from all REPLACE regions: Examples show how replacements can be implemented under real local conditions. They cover residential building refurbishment, heating and cooling replacement, demand-response and collective actions, innovative approaches like utilising mobile heating units or innovative building renovations.

REPLACE training seminarsREPLACE conducts training seminars for intermediaries and investors to strengthen their capacities and transfer knowledge from experienced to less experienced professionals. Learn more about the seminars and where to get training material.

REPLACE campaigns in the target regions

Boiler and oven replacement campaigns take place in all REPLACE regions to promote climate-friendly heating and cooling. These include, for example, open boiler room days and field trips, the establishment of information hubs, community information evenings, or the opportunity to carry out feasibility studies with the REPLACE your Heating System Calculator. REPLACE campaigns in the regions:

REPLACE Energy Summits

REPLACE Energy Summits are a great opportunity for professionals and policy makers to receive information on the implementation of renewable heating and cooling, and to discuss challenges and fields of cooperation. Summits have already taken place in Bulgaria, Germany, North Macedonia, and Spain. For information on upcoming Energy Summits in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia, please get in contact with the corresponding REPLACE partners.

Condensed knowledge – new REPLACE reports issued

New REPLACE reports have been issued, informing on the status and transition of heating and cooling in Europe, handbooks giving practice-oriented support to end consumers, intermediaries and investors, best practice examples and boiler and oven replacement action plans for all project regions.

Statistical inventories – Report D3.2The report informs about the status and transition to cleaner and more environmentally friendly alternatives in ten EU regions, and on scenarios for the impact of the REPLACE project on the number of old or inefficient boilers and ovens being replaced, as well as the energy savings, CO2 emissions reduction and level of investment triggered.
Replacement Handbooks for end consumers – Report D4.2This practical guide informs end users on the economic, environmental and social benefits of renewable heating and cooling, advises on the steps that should be taken before and during the replacement process and answers the most common questions. The relevant heating and cooling technologies currently available on the European market are covered.
Replacement Handbooks for intermediaries and investors – Report D4.3This report provides in-depth knowledge of renewable heating and cooling system options available on the market today, gives professional planning and implementation guidance, and informs about economic issues, best practices and innovative business models, up to model contracts.

Best practice examples – Report D4.4The REPLACE best practice examples show how replacements can be implemented under real local conditions. They cover residential building refurbishment, heating and cooling replacement, demand-response and collective actions, and innovative approaches like utilising mobile heating units or innovative building renovations.

Action plans – Report D6.1The project implements boiler and oven replacement campaigns to boost the phase-out of inefficient and old heating and cooling systems. Report D6.1 contains tailor-made action plans for each pilot region, defining initial planning details for actual implementation, including local media cooperation strategies that will be constantly refined throughout the campaigns.
