A small municipality in Bosnia and Herzegovina is named as THE CITY OF THE FUTURE, and we went to check what it was all about.
On Wednesday, November 30th 2022, Enova team carried out a study visit to the municipality of Olovo, as an example of the good practice in the field of installing heating systems based on renewable energy sources.
The municipality of Olovo is special, not only for its various natural potentials but also for the fact that it invests a lot of effort in environmental protection, especially through energy efficiency projects.
The study visit was attended by 20 participants, representatives of local self-government units, distributers and installers of heating systems, end-users, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations from Sarajevo Canton.
During the visit, the participants had the opportunity to visit:
- Olovo sports hall – a system of solar collectors,
- High school “Musa Ćazim Ćatić” and Elementary school “Olovo” – a wood chip boiler room,
- JZU spa and recreation center ” Aquaterm ” – a heat pump system (water-water).
In addition to the presentation of good practices, the visit also helped to exchange past experiences, but also to develop ideas for more innovative solutions for sustainable heat energy supply. Also, a dialogue was encouraged between hosts and visitors about the key challenges and obstacles faced by consumers when switching to heating systems based on renewable energy sources.
Since the energy transition is necessary, the establishment of a heating systems based on renewable energy sources will be soon necessary for all consumers, and this visit was held as an introduction to welcome it more readily.
We would like to thank the representatives of Olovo Municipality and the hosts for their cooperation and hospitality. We wish them good luck in the coming period and many more new projects, as well as positive examples.
